Ladies Room (2016) IMDb Plot Summary: This is a story of two besties and the mental adventures they go through in six different loos. It is a show about modern young 'girl bros' struggling to grow up even as they grow old. These girls are mad, bad and completely unapologetic about it! This show is about the story of two young girls living a very dysfunctional life. Every single episode of this Indian TV miniseries takes place in a loo and for most parts, in a loo alone. And its pretty damn amazing. The script is good, the punches are on point, the acting is pretty much all you could wish for and its all topped with amazing direction, set, etc. etc. Apart from slight problems in the script and direction here and there, its a really good miniseries to watch. Just 6 short episodes packed with some amazing fun. A recommended watch for sure. An IMDb 9/10. Ref:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5798814/

Tripling (2016) IMDb Plot Summary: Divorced, jobless, hopeless. Three siblings plan a road trip together. Chandan, Chanchal & Chitvan. Together they start a hilarious journey, to find themselves and their relations. Tripling is the story of three siblings who, although haven't been in close touch for a long time, end up taking a road trip as a result of unforeseen circumstances and end up re-kindling their relationship in the process. This one's an Indian TV miniseries and I have to say that its bloody brilliant for most parts. The only major flaw here though is that the last 1 1/2 episodes fall short in terms of the script where it becomes way too slow and drags on and on. It would have worked really well for the show had it cut down on one episode and made the ending much more tighter. Anyhow, the show's still really good and one of the really good feel good shows that I have watched. An IMDb 9/10. Ref:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6005644/...

Bisht, Please! (2017) IMDb Summary: The misadventures of a good girl. 'Bisht, Please!' is an Indian TV miniseries that tells the story about a 'good' old fashioned girl, Bisht, who tries to do everything by the rules. She ends up getting pushed around by everyone and hence everyone around her takes advantage of her and asks her to do tasks for them, succeeded with a meaningless 'please'; a request that she will always oblige (hence the title!). While this TV series has some really amazing moments, the script falls short by a mile. Some parts are so splendidly written, while the others just drag along way too much. This series contains some amazing dark and sexual humour, which is not so commonly seen in Indian live action media and is a pleasant surprise. There are places in this miniseries where the silliest of jokes are played out but they are so amazingly placed and so well executed that its guaranteed to make you laugh (its like one of...

Narcos (2015) 'To kill a monster, sometimes, you have to get in bed with other monsters. If that surprises you, pick up a history book. Its what we do; the enemy of my enemy is my friend' IMDb Plot Summary:  A chronicled look at the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, as well as the many other drug kingpins who plagued the country through the years. The first two seasons of this genius TV show was about the drug lord Pablo Escobar. Now everyone knows about Pablo and so the fact that he dies at the end of it all should come as no surprise to anyone. And since the first two seasons were solely focused on Escobar and his empire and everything that surrounded his reign, with his death, we all decided without even giving it a second thought that this amazing TV show had come to an end. And today I browse the internet to find Narcos has hit us all with another season! This time focusing on the Cali cartel that grew while everyone was focused on Pab...

Bloodline (2015) 'Sometimes, you know something's coming' IMDb Plot Summary:  A family of adult siblings find that their past secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep of a brother returns home. Its pretty weird how it took me two years since it aired to watch a TV series with such a compelling plot line. Anyways, I'm glad that I did. So here's the gist of what this show is all about. The Rayburns are a wealthy family who own a huge beach-side resort and are very respected by the community. One day, one of the oldest sun of the old man Rayburn who is living a wasteful life in Miami comes home and along with him surfaces some childhood secrets that give way to a disastrous chain of events. While the plot in itself is interesting, the only problem with this show is that the script isn't engrossing enough and after the first few episodes, the plot that develops seems very un-compelling and too much stretched out. Had this TV s...

Strike (2017) IMDb Plot Summary: Private investigator Cormoran Strike is hired to find out if a supermodel's suicide in London may have been a murder. I am a big (big is an understatement actually) fan of Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling)'s Cormoran Strike novel series. I was just so overjoyed when I had heard sometime back that Rowling had agreed to adaptation of her Strike novels to the big screen. I was expecting the adaption would manifest itself in the form of a movie but I was pleasantly surprised when yesterday I found out that the adaptation was in fact in the form of a TV series that had rolled out by the title 'Strike'. Let me put this out there first - this TV series is near perfect. I can guarantee that there can never be as good and as perfect a conversion from a book series to a TV series as this one. The makers of this TV show didn't take a lot of liberty with the story; in fact, everything in this series is almost exactly the same as in...

The Deuce (2017) IMDb Plot Summary:  A look at life in New York City during the 1970s and '80s when porn and prostitution were rampant in Manhattan. I'm usually not a fan of movies and shows set in the drug and sex world of the 70s and the 80s but this show works amazingly well even for someone like me who isn't a fan of this sub genre. Up until now, only the first episode has aired, so its a little too soon to make up my mind about this show, but as far as the pilot goes, it looks really good. James Franco plays a double role. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a sex worker. There's a lot of nudity in this show, as would be expected from the plot. I have a really good feeling about this one. I'll update this blog post as the show progresses. For now, I'll give it an IMDb 9/10 and put it on the ' recommended ' list. Ref:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4998350/

Freaks and Geeks (1999) 'I don't need another friend. I already have two. I mean, how many more friends does a guy need?' IMDb Plot Summary: A high school mathlete starts hanging out with a group of burnouts while her younger brother navigates his freshman year. Freaks and Geeks has a special place in my heart. And before I can tell you why, I need to get you through the context of the show a little. This show aired between 1999-2000 and shows the high school life of a few teenagers during the 1980-1981 school year. This time period is important to understanding this show, because high schools today weren't like the high schools at the time. In today's world, differences among people are highly appreciated. You could be a complete nerd or a total freak and you wouldn't be left out. Things weren't the same back then. The freaks and the geeks were total outcasts in schools. It was the time when 'jocks' were the cool kids on camp...

Atypical (2017) 'Human behaviour is less like a chicken and more like an albatross. No matter how far an albatross flies, it always returns home. Unless it flies too close to the water and gets eaten by a tiger shark' IMDb Plot Summary: Sam, an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum, decides it's time to find a girlfriend, a journey that sets Sam's mom on her own life-changing path as her son seeks more independence. I am a big fan of Apatow's Freaks and Geeks and when I came to know that a new teenage comedy had come out, I had to, at the very least, check it out. I hated Netflix's last attempt at a teenage show (13 Reasons Why) and hence I was very sceptical about this one. But in the end, Atypical turned out to a be pleasant surprise! This show is about an 18 year old kid in the autism spectrum and how he deals with his daily life, friends and family and most importantly, his quest to find himself a girlfriend. Alongside, we see the lives of his...
